Inspired by “dark” music at the age of thirteen, Chris Alvarado has performed with many projects in the gothic /death rock genre. Roses and Exile consists of music and lyrics written almost 15 years ago, which didn’t peak from out of the basement until now. Guest vocalists and musicians alike have always inspired Chris’s projects adding different styles and sound. To say the least, their contributions haven’t been void with Roses and Exile. Chris loves experimenting with different sounds ultimately pushing Roses and Exile to where it is now. The Base of Roses and Exile is to create a mood where you find yourself gazing into a cloud covered winter night sky. Some of the influences behind the music were inspired by
Death in June, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Savage Republic and
Joy Division, just to name a few. The sound of Roses and Exile is not of one particular sound but created from Ambient, Dance and Soul Crushing lyrics. In short, Roses and Exile focuses on the “dark relationships” of life. Chris has a diverse musical background, appearing on many a stage, but has never performed any of his Gothic/Death Rock live. Roses and Exile is a studio recording idea generated from existing songs over many years time. Chris Alvarado’s versatility in his ability to play Guitar, Bass, Drums, Keys and not mention Vocals are the very ‘instruments’ that continue to pave the way for he and other musicians who love creating “dark” Music. Alvarado has created music with over 150 people, however, this one-man project demonstrates his passion for stirring the depths of ones darker side.
